Instructor Training Program

​Instructor Training 500-hour Course

The instructor training course of study is designed to prepare master barbers for the state licensing examination and profitable employment as barber instructors, school directors, administrators, trainers, salon managers, salon, spa, or school owners, Industry writers, research specialists, product analysts, state board inspectors, or platform artists.

The instructor program instructs the student in the following curriculum development:

​Lesson Planning

Teaching Methods

Classroom management 

Teacher-student relationships

Test evaluation

The 500-hour training course requirements are as follows:

1)    Classroom training in the science of teaching-----------110 hours

2)    Teaching assistance and observation ------------------180 hours

3)    Performance and demonstration ----------------------50 hours

4)    Supervised practice teaching------------------------160 hours

Tuesday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 7:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. (FULL TIME​)

Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 5:00 p.m. -10:00 p.m. and Saturday 7:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (PART TIME)

PART-TIME/FULL-TIME COMPLETION TIME

Students entering the program as part-time can complete it within 6 MONTHS at 21 hours a week and full-time at 4 MONTHS at 34 hours a week (This is just an estimate.) The time depends on how often the student comes to school. (Not coming to school can require more time costing more money.) THE MAXIMUM TIME GIVEN TO A FULL-TIME INSTRUCTOR TRAINING STUDENT IS 22 WEEKS AND A PART TIME STUDENT IS 36 WEEKS. (After this time the student will then have to pay extra monies at $250 weekly)
